JCP has been recognised as a legal practice which meets the highest standards of management and customer care by the Law Society’s practice management standards body, Lexcel.

After a rigorous assessment of the firm’s practices and procedures, Lexcel’s report praised the “democratic culture” at JCP, its sense of “shared values” and the lack of complacency on display.

This accreditation is particularly pleasing since 2017 was a year of major change for JCP Solicitors, when it undertook a major merger, growing the business into South East Wales to become one of the largest indigenous law firms in Wales.JCP Management Excellence Accolade

After a thorough appraisal of JCP’s practices and procedures, carried out across its offices throughout South East and West Wales, the company has retained this important accreditation.

In its report, the Lexcel assessor praised the underlying culture of democracy saying: “People at all levels are approachable and supportive.  This democracy manifests itself in the way top managers are visible and are accepting of suggestions and questions, producing an underlying culture where there are can-do attitudes among staff members: no blame is attached to people when they make mistakes and this contributes significantly to the concept of a learning company.”

The commitment to staff learning and development also drew the attention of the assessor, as did the strong sense of shared values, which, they acknowledge, helped make the recent merger run particularly smoothly.

“The acquisition and the resulting changes were especially well managed because of management’s success to bridge the geographical distances and cultural gaps between the various locations.  This was not accomplished without some considerable effort, as well as significant management skills.”

JCP Director and CEO, Hayley Davies said: “This recognition from Lexcel is credit to the hard work being carried out within our teams throughout Wales to continue to foster the most supportive, productive workplace possible and to do so during a time of great change for our business."

“I am pleased to see the nurturing, positive and community culture that we have worked hard to foster at JCP Solicitors being recognised. This is at the heart of everything we do – it is the JCP way of doing things - underpinned by very sound structures, systems and strategies that allow managers to make successful decisions that positively affect our future.”
