4 How we protect your information

We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, which is an industry standard for internet payments. This means all of your personal and card details are protected using 128 bit encryption when your details are transmitted over the Internet. Our site is secured by Verisign. Click the Versign logo to the right to confirm the validity of our secure certificate.

4.1 Check you are using a secure site

When your browser displays the online payment page, you will notice that the URL at the top of the browser window starts with https instead of http. You will also see a closed padlock icon in the bottom right hand corner of your browser window. Put your mouse over the padlock for a little while and you should see the encryption strength. It should be at least SSL Secured 128 bit.

4.2 If you share your PC or use a facility in a public place

Make sure you are not overlooked as you enter your details and close the browser window and, if applicable, log off when you have finished.

10 Our Liability

Since a substantial part of The Site is both free and available to all, it is a condition that your use of The Site is at your own risk. We shall not be liable to you or in breach of this User Agreement for any delay or failure to perform any obligation if the delay or failure is due to a cause beyond our reasonable control including, without limitation, the blocking or restricting of information to and/or from our network.

Except as expressly provided in this User agreement, we disclaim any further representations, warranties, conditions or other terms, express or implied, by statute, collaterally or otherwise, including but not limited to implied warranties, conditions or other terms of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose or reasonable care and skill.

Save as provided below, we disclaim all and will not be liable in contract, tort (including, without limitation, negligence) or otherwise arising in connection with this User Agreement or the The Site for: (i) consequential, indirect or special loss or damage; or (ii) any loss of goodwill or reputation; or (iii) any economic losses (including loss of revenues, profits, contracts, business or anticipated savings), in each case, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage and howsoever incurred.

12 Complaints

13 Bank Account Fraud

Emails are open communications and so are NOT secure. Please do not EVER send us bank account details by email. If this is unavoidable YOU must telephone US to check we have the right details. Our bank account details NEVER change. If you receive an email or telephone call from us asking you to transfer funds to a different bank account to the one notified to you in hard copy, it is FAKE. Do not send any money but telephone us immediately. Third parties sending funds to us having received bank details by email or telephone, do so at their own risk. We do not accept liability for any losses sustained by anyone responding to fraudulent emails or telephone calls.

14 Telephone Number Spoofing

Is where criminals use software so that when calls are received the number that comes up is different to the one they are calling from and may show as the number of a firm of solicitors. The criminals will then pretend to be solicitors and ask for payments to be made to a bank account that they control, which can result in large losses for clients. To protect yourself, if you receive a call from someone saying they are calling from JCP Solicitors and they give you bank details over the phone you should:-

  1. Call us back on 01792 773773, to check the details BEFORE making any payments or transfers; and
  2. If in any doubt DO NOT make the payment or transfer (criminals will often try and rush you by saying it is urgent or must be done immediately)
