Three teams from Swansea Bay Business Club are preparing to climb the highest peaks in Wales in a single day to raise money for children’s hospice, Tŷ Hafan.
The teams are taking on the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge – climbing Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan in 15 hours to raise funds for Tŷ Hafan as the current Swansea Bay Business Club President’s chosen charity.
The three teams of five are made up of members from JCP Solicitors, HMT Sancta Maria, ABMU Health Board, Watermark Financial Planning and Beech Wood Trees
The teams will start the challenge on the morning of 18 June at Snowdon in North Wales before moving on to Cadair Idris in mid-Wales and finishing with Pen y Fan in the South. They will walk a total distance of 17 miles and climb 1,500 metres.
Tŷ Hafan, which is based in Sully near Barry, is one of the UK's leading paediatric palliative care charities and offers care and support to children and their families from throughout Wales.
Hayley comments: “The Three Peaks team members are feeling nervous but very motivated to complete the challenge within the 15 hour time limit. We have a target of £20,000 so would like to encourage more people to donate to this fantastic cause.”
This is the first of many charity challenges for Swansea Bay Business Club’s President, Hayley Davies, since she announced her aim to raise £20,000 for Tŷ Hafan during her presidential term. Other members of the business community are also joining in with a cycle from London to Paris in July and a Sky Dive in September.
Hayley continues: “We’re incredibly lucky to have such strong teams for the all the challenges and having the support of colleagues is invaluable to keep you going. The teams have worked tirelessly at raising sponsorship and we are extremely grateful to those who have donated so far, sincere thanks from us all.”
