Congratulations to JCP Solicitors’ very own Matthew Wells who has made history by being the first person to win the city’s first half marathon.

Matthew crossed the finishing line of the inaugural JCP Solicitors Swansea Half Marathon with a time of 1:14.38, finishing ahead of 2,000 fellow runners and a minute and 15 seconds ahead of the second place athlete.

It goes without saying that everyone at JCP Solicitors is incredibly proud of what Matthew achieved on Sunday.

Matthew took to the starting line with 19 fellow JCP employees and was cheered along from the sidelines by many more. Running 13.1miles is no mean feat and so every one of our runners achieved something very special on Sunday, by playing their part in this first for the city and achieving their own personal goals.

JCP Solicitors is delighted to have been behind the Swansea Half Marathon from the beginning and we have enjoyed watching as a very special event in the history of our city evolved, building great momentum to become the resounding success that we always knew it would. In only a matter of months, Swansea Half Marathon founders David Martin-Jewell and Nick Francis took an idea and created an event that through hard work, commitment and passion became something that Swansea can be very proud of.

Speaking after crossing the finishing line, Matthew, an Associate Solicitor within JCP Solicitors’ family team based in Swansea, said: "It was fantastic, excellent, all of the Swansea locals were out supporting us, which was brilliant.

“To win an event like this is very special and it’s been made even more so by the fact that I work at JCP Solicitors who have shown great passion in their support of this inaugural event.”

Hayley Davies, CEO of JCP Solicitors said: “As title sponsors of Swansea’s first half marathon we are delighted with the success of the event and how it was so fondly received by so many people. We were firm believers that the JCP Solicitors Swansea Half Marathon could be a great event for the city, and we are delighted to say that we thought right.

“What Matthew achieved is outstanding and as a team we are delighted for, and very proud of him and everyone else who took to the streets to be a part of this great first for the city.”
