Betsan Powell has been appointed Chair for Women in Wales for two years, a registered charity doing stellar work, fundraising for children throughout Wales.

Betsan, who is a Director and Head of Commercial Services at JCP Solicitors, will bring her quiet dedication and determination to this important role, with her first event being the Women in Wales Lunch in Cardiff, on 12 May, with guest speaker award-winning milliner, Alison Tod, who will tell her story and take part in a question-and-answer session hosted by designer, Huw Rees.

The Women in Wales committee organises an annual fundraising lunch to support children’s projects in Wales. The first lunch was held in 1992 and over the past 30 years the event has raised close to £1m which has been donated to various charity projects, including Save the Children, in their invaluable work across Wales .

Betsan said: “I am extremely honoured to be appointed Chair of Women in Wales - an organisation I know well, that has been doing such good work for children and young people in need for the past 30 years. I am very much looking forward to our event, in May, attended by hundreds of women keen to raise money for our nominated charity projects: Dreams & Wishes, Riding for the Disabled North Pembrokeshire and Cardiganshire Group, Sandy Bear Children’s Bereavement Charity, Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice and Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society Food Story. We will also enjoy friendship and a great social event, all for good causes.”

Congratulating Betsan, Director and CEO of JCP Solicitors, Hayley Davies, said: “Congratulations to Betsan on this wonderful appointment. At JCP our people get involved in causes they believe in, and this is no exception. We wholeheartedly support Betsan in bringing as much as she can to this role and helping Women in Wales continue its amazing work.”

The Women in Wales event takes place at the Mercure Holland House Hotel & Spa in Cardiff, please visit www.womeninwales.org.uk for further information. The day includes a champagne reception followed by a three-course lunch, entertainment, auction, raffle and some surprises.
