Marked Boost in High-Value Deals for Leading Law Firm
- AuthorBetsan Powell
Leading Welsh law firm JCP Solicitors is reporting deal values in excess of £100 million in the Corporate & Commercial team in the last 12 months – a figure they say is a reflection of the calibre of their corporate client base in South West Wales.
JCP, which has offices in Cardiff, Swansea, Carmarthen and across Pembrokeshire, has represented clients in some of their most high-value deals and transactions to date, including advising founder and majority shareholder Neil R Evans on the sale of leading haulage company NR Evans. NR Evans was bought by NFT Distribution Group in July, with the business valued at £20.3 million.
In recent months JCP has also acted for LBS Builders Merchants, who expanded their branch network by securing their largest acquisition to date – Talbot Timber.
The Healthcare sector is also a fast-growing area for JCP, with a significant number of transactions involving pharmacies, dental practices and veterinary surgeries being handled by a separate Healthcare team.
This year JCP’s Sports Law team acted for Europe’s leading leading sportswear manufacturer, Macron, on two landmark kit deals – with Stoke City and Northampton Saints. Both of those were the most lucrative kit deals in the clubs’ respective histories.
Betsan Powell is Director and Joint Head of Corporate & Commercial at JCP Solicitors, specialising in Corporate transactions.
She said: “JCP is going through an exciting period of growth, which is very positive for the company.
“It follows, of course, that this is good news for the economy throughout Wales and the UK, where our clients operate.
“Optimism about the UK economy has been in short supply over the last few months and I feel that the real picture has been somewhat obscured by the anxieties voiced by some business pundits and political commentators.
“There is a lot of valuable and meaningful business being conducted in Wales and I am pleased that JCP is part of this positive story.
“I am proud to be part of the specialist teams across the Corporate & Commercial, Property, Healthcare, Sport and other specialist areas, who all contribute significantly to the legal services we offer at JCP.”
