The organisers of the JCP Swansea Half Marathon have today announced the launch of a new website for their 2016 race, which is fast becoming a firm favourite amongst the running community. This coincides with their early bird race places that come to a close at midnight on Friday 4th September.
A total of 8,000 public and charity places are available for 2016 and the organisers are looking forward to attracting runners of all levels from across the UK and beyond to run #RunSwansea.
The flat and fast JCP Swansea Half Marathon takes place on fully closed roads and is one of the fastest growing races in the UK, driven by a dynamic and forward-thinking team. The race has been increasing in size and popularity since the inaugural event in 2014, with entries sold out in 2014 and 2015. The JCP Swansea Half Marathon was also a finalist at The 2015 Running Awards for the UK’s Best Half Marathon and is quickly establishing itself as a must do race.
The team behind the JCP Swansea Half Marathon will continue to work with their founding sponsor JCP Solicitors, and long term partners that include; Compare Insurance, Matthews & Co, The Big Heart of Swansea & HMT Sancta Maria.
For 2016 the race has also established a brand new charity structure based on the success and feedback from this year, which includes 5 national charities. Cancer Research UK is the Headline Charity Partner, with Alzheimer’s Society, British Heart Foundation, Help for Heroes and Save the Children confirmed as Gold Charity Partners. The JCP Swansea Half Marathon is a fantastic platform for charity fundraising, and runners will be able to raise money for the official charities by choosing their charity during the registration process.
Race Director David Martin-Jewell commented: “We are extremely excited to launch our new website which mirrors the dynamic approach of the team behind the scenes. We have come a long over the last 2 years and it’s great to see that our race has become one of the most popular races in the UK and a must-do event in the running community, firmly putting Swansea on the map. The course is flat and fast with one of the most scenic coastal routes in the UK. We are looking forward to working with our partners and official charities to deliver another fantastic event in 2016.”
JCP Solicitors' CEO Hayley Davies said: "As the event’s main sponsor we are delighted that the JCP Swansea Half Marathon has already become a real fixture in the calendar, not just for athletes taking part, but also for the community who turn out in great numbers, and in fine voice, to cheer the runners on. The event has really been taken to the hearts of the people of Swansea. We are very proud to add our support to this enjoyable event which raises money for good causes each year and which is clearly going from strength to strength."
Entries are open and public places cost £33 for affiliated athletes and £35 for non-affiliated runners, which includes a fully marshaled course on closed roads, medal, technical t-shirt, on route entertainment, post race massage and goody bag for all finishers. Early bird entries are available until midnight on 4th September at the reduced cost of £29 for affiliated athletes and £31 for non-affiliated runners.
Starting and finishing in the city centre, the flat, fast route will take runners along Swansea Bay to The Mumbles and back, featuring six miles of stunning coastline, beautiful views and fantastic crowd support.
