Business people from across Pembrokeshire welcomed renowned ‘birdman’ Iolo Williams as their guest speaker at their Four Seasons Christmas business lunch

The gathering at St Bride’s Spa Hotel, Saundersfoot, heard about Iolos’s varied career, starting out with the RSPB before he became a stalwart of TV radio and newspapers. Attendees also raised £385 on the day for Iolo’s chosen charity, Gower Bird Hospital.

Iolo is one of the most popular faces in Welsh television, with his enthusiasm for British wildlife and his knowledge of the Welsh landscape and habitats being infectious.

Iolo grew up in Llanwddyn, Powys, and after making a name for himself as an expert on Welsh birdlife he won his TV break in 1997 when BBC Wales approached him to work on the Visions of Snowdonia series, in which he followed the lives of people working on the slopes of Wales’ highest mountain.

Ian Badham, Partner at Ashmole & Co Chartered Accountants said: “We were very pleased to welcome Iolo to address our Christmas Pembrokeshire Four Seasons Lunch. Many of our guests work within the rural communities and Iolo’s insights into our unique landscape, its value, its history and its place within the wider Welsh economy were fascinating.

“It was interesting too to hear about his own career path, which has seen him carve out a place for himself in the Welsh media thanks to his in-depth knowledge of his subject and thanks to his life-long passion for wildlife. There were lessons to be learned there, particularly for entrepreneurs who are keen to follow their passions.”

The Pembrokeshire Four Seasons Business Lunch is sponsored by JCP Solicitors, Pembrokeshire Tourism, Thomas Carroll and Ashmole and Co and is open to all those working in business Pembrokeshire.

The next lunch will take place in the Spring of 2018. Please contact Christina Coates on 01792 529630 or email christina.coates@jcpsolicitors.co.uk for further information.
