Princes Gate former MD is Font of Knowledge at Pembrokeshire Four Seasons Business Lunch
- AuthorBetsan Powell
Business people from across Pembrokeshire welcomed the former Managing Director of one of the country’s most recognised brands, Princes Gate, as their guest speaker at the Summer Four Seasons Summer business lunch, in Tenby.
The gathering, at Trefloyne Manor, heard from Glyn Jones, who founded the business with his brother David, after discovering a fresh water spring running beneath their land more than twenty years ago, which they bottled and marketed.
Since that time, Princes Gate has grown to become one of the most successful companies in Wales, with the bottled water side of the business having just been snapped up by Nestle Waters, with David retaining a minority stake.
As well as hearing about the success of Princes Gate, attendees also heard about Glyn’s newer venture, Cariad Coffee, and his life-long passion for organic farming – he grew up on New House Farm in Princes Gate, Pembrokeshire, and the farm still operates as an organic dairy farm today.
Ian Badham, Partner at Ashmole & Co Chartered Accountants said: “The story of Princes Gate, from the initial discovery of a natural spring, to the building of a country-wide brand that caught the eye of food giant Nestle, was fascinating. Since Glyn is, at heart, an organic farmer, it was great that he was able to share his insights into the very important trends, innovations and changes in this vital part of the local and national economy.”
The Pembrokeshire Four Seasons Business Lunch is sponsored by JCP Solicitors, The Development Bank of Wales, Thomas Carroll Group and Ashmole & Co Chartered Accountants, and is open to all those working in business across Pembrokeshire.
The next event is being held on Friday 21 September at Plas Hyfryd, Narberth with guest speaker, Miner’s champion Tyrone O’Sullivan OBE, one of the most respected figures in Welsh industry. This lunch is two courses and costs £20 per head.
