Sophie Thomas
In her role, Sophie leads a team who provide a well-prepared and efficient service to a major high street bank and other lenders recovering both secured and unsecured business lending from companies and individuals throughout England and Wales. Other clients range from individuals and SMEs to regional and national banks and building societies.
Sophie also advises a number of fixed charge receivers across the UK in respect of their appointments, duties and recoveries and is an Associate Member of Nara, the Association of Property & Fixed Charge Receivers.
Sophie relishes the problem-solving aspect of her job and takes pride in achieving successful outcomes for happy clients. She is experienced at negotiating commercial settlements and will always have her client’s interests and priorities at the forefront of her mind. She is proactive and strives to develop and maintain good working relationships with her clients.
In The Legal 500, Sophie is described as a “leading light”. Her clients say that she is “never afraid to speak her mind”, “always has the facts of the case committed to memory” and is “willing to work to the tight timescales that are often required”.
Sophie’s other role at JCP is as the firm’s Training Principal. She is responsible for mentoring the firm’s trainee solicitors and supervising their training contracts. Sophie is also involved in the recruitment of the firm’s future trainee solicitors and enjoys representing the firm at careers events and workshops organised by local universities and the Junior Lawyers Division.
Sophie is a committee member of the Swansea & District Law Society and especially enjoys getting involved with the arranging of their social events like the annual Summer Supper.
Sophie joined the board of Swansea Building Society as a Non-Executive Director in January 2023 and was voted in at the AGM on 27 April 2023.
Sophie qualified as a Solicitor in 2009. Upon qualification, Sophie worked in the areas of Professional Negligence and Title Rectification. She has added Commercial Debt Recovery and Lender Recoveries to her specialisms since May 2011.
