JCP Swansea Half Marathon Gets Set to Celebrate Official Launch

As the JCP Swansea Half Marathon gets set to celebrate the official launch of the 2017 race, they are joined by the BAFTA and multi-award winner Lowri Morgan. Lowri being an ultra marathon runner and local celebrity was only too pleased to talk at the evening celebration, sharing her love of running and passion for Swansea.

Organisers of the JCP Swansea Half Marathon were delighted to announce the new partners involved in the race that has captured the attention of runners from across the UK and beyond. The official partners joining the event include; Home from Home; an accommodation agency specialising in cottages and unique places to stay, and Race Nation; the race entry and fundraising platform. They join the long standing partners of the half marathon Matthews & Co, Brecon Carreg and HMT Sancta Maria.

The evening celebration took place place on Friday 27th January at Morgans Hotel, where sponsors and supporters of the JCP Swansea Half Marathon celebrated the success of 2016 and the unveiling of the new company Front Runner Events.

David Martin-Jewell, managing director of Front Runners Events said:

“We are extremely proud to announce that we have grown our business into a multi event company. Having recently taken over Llanelli Half Marathon we felt it was a key time to rebrand and announce the new company of Front Runner Events. We are an ambitious team and plan to further develop races across South West Wales.”

The team behind the JCP Swansea Half marathon also announced the community fund “Leave More than A Footprint” during the event, where individuals are able to apply for the fund, which is managed by a committee. The aim of the fund is to try and tackle exclusion in sport and help towards building a future for children who may go on to achieve great things or simply have sport in their lives. One of the committee members include Amy Seppman, Marketing Director from JCP Ssolicitors, who were the founding sponsors and continue to be the principal partner of the race.

Amy Seppman added:

“As a law firm we are true believers in the grassroots approach.  If you invest and help nurture the natural abilities of people only positive outcomes can occur.  Not only is this an approach we have in our own company ethos, but as a mother of a child who is heavily committed to sport I can see first hand the advantages a fund such as this could bring. Becoming a committee member was something I didn’t think twice about and I look forward to seeing the results that a community fund can bring to the lives of children in Swansea.”

Official charities joining the JCP Swansea Half Marathon 2017 include Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research UK. Both charities were present during the evening and will be involved in the build up to the race, and supporting runners in their fund raising efforts.

Tash Smith, charity co-ordinator at Front Runners Events said:

“We are thrilled to continue working with our charity partners for 2017. Since the inception of the JCP Swansea Half marathon our runners have raised more than £1million for charity. Running a half marathon is an amazing achievement for anybody and fundraising for charity can help motivate many runners to reach their goal and focus on their target.”
