Charity Of The Year
We are delighted to announce that we have chosen the RNLI as our Charity of the Year for 2026-2027, and we look forward to supporting 4 of our local stations - covering east to west Wales, through a series of fundraisers and events.
Nominated during our 35th Coral Anniversary Year, the RNLI was selected following strong colleague support for a number of local lifeboat stations. Colleagues shared personal connections and experiences of the charity’s life-saving work, which helped inform our decision and highlighted the impact the RNLI has across our communities.
Mumbles Lifeboat Station was an easy choice, reflecting many strong personal connections. Residential Conveyancer Laura Winter’s father was the station’s longest-serving volunteer crew member at the time he retired, dedicating over 55 years of service, and her brother now continues that legacy. Hannah Martin, a Legal Advisor in the Court of Protection Team, also has a direct link, with her brother working for the RNLI’s professional lifeguard service that operates alongside Mumbles Lifeboat Station to keep beach users safe in the busy spring and summer season. For Rebecca Bates, Senior Associate in the Family Team, and Angharad Butler, Graduate Legal Assistant in the Residential Conveyancing Team, the connection is equally personal, as both have had family members rescued by the volunteer crew from Mumbles RNLI.
At neighbouring Port Talbot Lifeboat Station, the choice is shaped by similar ties. Director Ian Spender’s late brother was a valued crew member, while Court of Protection Legal Advisor Gemma Hill’s husband currently volunteers his time at the station.
Further along the coast, Barry Dock RNLI was nominated following a heartfelt account from Legal Assistant Alison Deere, who highlighted the station’s vital role in keeping those using the Bristol Channel safe.
Looking west, Fishguard Lifeboat Station was chosen following Legal Advisor Sarah Evans’ reflection on its importance as a community asset, regularly supported through legacy donations in clients’ Wills.
All in all, the nominations emphasise how integral RNLI lifeboat stations are to the communities they serve and the areas of coast they operate across.
Amy Seppman, Director and Head of Strategic Partnerships at JCP Solicitors said: “Each year, we are proud to select a chosen charity to focus on volunteering, fundraising and awareness campaigning. Our Coral Anniversary year makes partnering with the RNLI especially fitting, and after hearing the inspiring stories from so many members of the JCP team, we know this charity selection strikes a chord with many of our colleagues and clients.
“After choosing Prostate Cymru during 2025-2026, we look forward to supporting the RNLI to support their vital work on the water and raise funds to keep them saving lives at sea.”
Jordan Harbin, Fundraising and Partnership Lead at the RNLI, said: “Corporate partnerships are a vital part of our fundraising efforts, keeping our lifeboats on the water across the Welsh coastline.
“We are grateful to be selected as JCP Solicitors’ chosen charity until March 2027 and already feel a strong connection to their teams. Ultimately, we can’t keep people safe without the vital work of our volunteers and our fundraisers, and so we thank JCP and the team for their generous support.”
