Livestock Hire Agreements
With a livestock hire agreement, which tends to be more common in the dairy sector than any other livestock sector, the owner provides land, quota, facilities and a working capital bank account whilst the contractor provides 'know how', cows, machinery and labour.
This can provide a workable solution where the current owner is looking to reduce the time he spends working on the farm, and where the contractor or often young farmer does not have the working capital to set up a new farming business in his own right.
