Emily Wellington Selected For Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Rural Leadership Programme

We are delighted to share that Emily Wellington, Associate Solicitor in our Rural team, has been selected for a prestigious leadership programme.

The Royal Welsh Agricultural Leadership Programme was established in 2022 to nurture the next generation of rural leaders in Wales. Emily was selected for the year-long training programme in recognition of her specialist knowledge of agricultural law, and her passion for promoting legal careers in the rural sector.

Emily joined JCP Solicitors in 2022 and began her training contract in 2023. She combines her litigation and property experience gained during her training to advise clients on their agricultural law queries. Known for delivering excellent client care, Emily has developed her practice in property litigation including public and private rights of way, landlord and tenant disputes, easements, covenants, boundary disputes and adverse possession claims.

JCP is proudly on the NFU Cymru Legal Panel Firm for South Wales, supporting clients across South and Mid Wales with matters relating to their member’s farming businesses.

By taking part in the leadership programme, Emily and her cohort will develop advanced leadership skills, along with the opportunity to build connections with industry leaders. Emily will participate in training to enhance media and communication skills, as well as the engaging in specialist workshops and sessions at renowned institutions in both Cardiff and London.

To kick off the Royal Welsh Agricultural Leadership Programme, the participants will attend a residential session in North Wales in June 2025. They will then be formerly introduced at the Royal Welsh Show Awards Ceremony on Monday, 21st July 2025.

Aled Jones, CEO at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society, said: “We are thrilled to welcome this talented group of individuals to our Rural Leadership Programme. Each participant brings unique perspectives and experiences to the cohort, and we look forward to supporting their development as future leaders in Welsh agriculture and rural affairs.”

Emily Wellington, Associate Solicitor at JCP Solicitors, said: “The Royal Welsh Agricultural Show is the highlight of the agricultural calendar in Wales, and I am delighted that my passion for supporting clients with their agricultural legal matters has granted me a place on such a renowned leadership programme.

“I am looking forward to learning from prestigious leaders and developing my own leadership skills, which I will bring back to the team at JCP so we can continue to develop and grow.”

Rhys Evans, Director and Head of the Rural team at JCP Solicitors said: “Emily’s selection is a testament to her commitment to the agricultural sector and the trusted relationships she has built with our rural clients. Emily is a valued colleague, and we are proud to support her as she continues to grow as a leader. We have no doubt she will represent both JCP Solicitors and the wider rural profession with the same integrity and enthusiasm she brings to her client matters every day.”
