Payment Terms And Conditions

At JCP Solicitors, we offer several convenient ways to make payments. You may need to:

  • Pay an invoice for our legal fees
  • Pay money on account for our legal fees
  • Pay for a third-party disbursement or a sum required for a property or business purchase
  • View our refund policy

How to Pay an Invoice for Legal Fees

Any person can pay an invoice on your behalf. However, if a refund is required and you, as our client, are not the payee, there may be delays.

Your invoice includes a unique reference number - please use this when making a payment.

Payments Over £5,000

  • Call our switchboard to request the “Payment Hotline” number for card payments
  • Make a bank transfer using the details provided on your invoice and in our Letter of Engagement
  • Send a cheque

Payments Under £5,000

In addition to the above methods, you can also:

  • Pay online using a debit or credit card
  • Use our autopayment line with a debit or credit card
  • Visit one of our offices in Swansea, Carmarthen, Caerphilly, or Cowbridge to pay via Chip & Pin

How to Pay Money on Account

We will provide you with a six-digit reference number - please use this when making your payment.

Important: Payments on account must be made from an account in YOUR NAME. Failure to do so may delay any refund should one be required.

Payments Over £5,000

  • Call our switchboard to request the “Payment Hotline” number for card payments
  • Make a bank transfer using the details provided by your legal team
  • Send a cheque

Payments Under £5,000

In addition to the above methods, you can also:

  • Pay online using a debit or credit card
  • Use our autopayment line with a debit or credit card
  • Visit one of our offices in Swansea, Carmarthen, or Caerphilly to pay via Chip & Pin

How to Pay for a Third-Party Disbursement or Property/Business Purchase

We do not accept credit card payments for third-party fees such as search fees, counsel fees, shortfall payments, or mortgage deposits.

If you attempt to pay via credit card for these fees, your payment will be refunded, which could take up to ten working days and may cause delays to your case.

To pay for disbursements or deposit payments:

  • Make a bank transfer using the details provided by your legal team and included in our Letter of Engagement
  • Send a cheque
  • For third-party disbursements only (not property deposits), call our switchboard to request the “Payment Hotline” number for debit card payments

If you need to provide additional payment information, please contact your legal team or email accountsteam@jcpsolicitors.co.uk.

Our Refund Policy

If you are not entirely satisfied with our services, we will process refunds in accordance with our terms and conditions and our membership code of conduct with The Law Society of England & Wales.

If a payment has been made in error, contact us immediately by calling 01792 529606 or email accountsteam@jcpsolicitors.co.uk.

Refunds are at the discretion of management.

Important: If a payment was made from an account not in your name, there may be a delay in processing the refund due to anti-money laundering compliance checks required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Stay Vigilant: Fraud and Security Warnings

Bank Fraud Alerts

Our bank account details NEVER change.

If you receive an email or phone call claiming to be from JCP Solicitors asking you to transfer funds to a different bank account than the one provided in hard copy, it is fraudulent.

What to do:

  1. Do NOT send money
  2. Call us immediately to verify the request

We do not accept liability for losses due to fraudulent emails or calls.

Payment Line Security

Our Payment Line Number and Autopayment Line Number will NEVER change. If you receive a request stating otherwise, treat it as fraudulent.

Telephone Number Spoofing

Fraudsters may use software to make their phone number appear as a trusted number (such as a law firm’s). They may impersonate solicitors and attempt to trick you into transferring funds into their account.

To protect yourself:

  1. If you receive a call requesting a payment, hang up and call our main switchboard to verify before transferring any money
  2. If in doubt, do NOT make the payment - scammers often pressure victims by creating a false sense of urgency

For further assistance, please contact us on 01792 529606 or email accountsteam@jcpsolicitors.co.uk. We are here to help.
