Sophie is an Associate Employment Solicitor and HR professional with more than 15 years experience in both legal and senior HR roles, advising in all aspects of employment law across the public, private and third sectors. Her dual experience makes her a valued and unique addition to the Employment and HR team at JCP. Sophie qualified as a Solicitor in March 2000 and has worked in the area of Employment Law since this time.
Sophie’s particular areas of expertise include advising both employers and employees on redundancy (collective and smaller scale); staff restructures; transfers of undertakings (‘TUPE’); negotiating new terms and conditions with staff; the management of complex disciplinary and grievance cases; performance & absence management, tribunal representation and writing contracts, policies & procedures.
With her wealth of experience from both industry and a large regional law firm, Sophie has a keen appreciation for the internal dynamics within organisations and the difficulties in successfully navigating a path through complex employment laws. This allows Sophie to give pragmatic and commercial advice to managers and in-house HR teams.
In her spare time, Sophie loves to play the piano and relax by having Classic FM on the radio constantly, relishing her time with her teenage children, and mostly keeping her son off the Xbox! Sophie also enjoys walking her collie across beautiful beaches and frequenting her local pubs with friends and family.
