Ben is currently working as Legal Assistant in our Commercial Property team based in Carmarthen. Ben’s interest in Law was stimulated in sixth form when he was accompanied by his father to sit within a Crown Court hearing. Acting on this interest alongside the completion of his A-Levels, and various work experiences in different areas of law, Ben has since completed an undergraduate degree in Law (LLB) from Cardiff University, obtaining a 2:1.
Ben originally became interested in JCP Solicitors by completing a voluntary work experience with our Residential Property team in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. Upon completion, he believed that he saw a future for himself at JCP and thus applied for a Legal Assistant role in our busy Commercial Property team. Ben thoroughly enjoys this position, stating that, “it is particularly rewarding to see property which you see every day be bought and sold, with the knowledge that you helped make that happen”. He believes that whilst it can be predominantly challenging, it is undoubtedly a worthwhile career, and subsequently sees a future for himself in this area of law. Ben plans to complete his Legal Practice Course in 2019 and looks forward to his future career in law.
Whilst at University, Ben took part in the Environmental Law Foundation Clinic, a pro bono scheme which was led by David Hart QC. Ben is principally interested in environmental and energy law; he can often be seen proposing new ideas and debating certain environmental concerns.
Outside of work, Ben is an enthusiastic triathlete; at university he was a team captain and trusted committee member of the universities triathlon team for 2017 and 2018. Ben was proud to help bring the team to success at various races across the UK. Ben is currently competing in the 70.3 Ironman distance triathlon, and believes that participating in sports assists in maintaining a strong work life balance. His life goal is to qualify for Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
