Headway Are The Winners Thanks to Ironman World Championship Competitor
- AuthorRebecca Bennett
A long-standing champion of Headway has raised £1,250 for the Neath Port Talbot Branch by completing the immense physical challenge of the Ironman World Championship race in Hawaii.
In her day job as an Associate Solicitor in JCP Solicitors’ Medical Negligence team, Rebecca Bennett supports others to overcome personal challenges. Now she has completed the iconic Ironman World Championship race, which took place in the energy-sapping heat of Kona, Hawaii.
Rebecca competed against some of the world’s fittest athletes as she took on the mammoth challenge of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and then a 26.2 mile run in aid of her local branch of Headway, where she is involved as Secretary.
Rebecca qualified to compete in the Ironman World Championships after winning her category in Ironman Wales 2017, her first ever Ironman challenge, which took place in the slightly less balmy location of Tenby, Wales.
Rebecca said: “It was an absolutely incredible experience and one that I will never forget. It was one of the hardest races I have ever done, with heat of around 35 degrees and high humidity making for an incredibly tough day. However, it was all absolutely worth it and the feeling of running down the finishing line red carpet at the World Championships was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I’m delighted to have raised £1,250 for the Neath Port Talbot Branch of Headway, which will go directly to help improve the lives of survivors of brain injury in the local area.”
JCP Solicitors is a long-standing supporter of Headway and is proud to be on the Headway Specialist Panel.
