A Deputy is a person who is appointed by the Court of Protection in London to deal with financial and property affairs of a person who needs assistance. This may be for many reasons for this such as a person suffering from Alzhemier’s, dementia or someone who has been involved in a nasty accident and suffered a brain injury. A Deputy is necessary because incapacity has struck and it is then too late to prepare a Lasting Power of Attorney.
Our team have considerable experience with dealing with the Court of Protection and the Office of the Public Guardian. We act for friends and family of patients who wish to be appointed as Deputy and we are also appointed as a Professional Deputy or Attorney for many patients. We act closely with the clients to ensure that we can assist them as much as possible and that we are able to meet their needs and requirements.
Amanda Rees, Head of the Wills and Probate team, specialises in Court of Protection work. She has a considerable portfolio of Court of Protection clients and is a recognised expert in the field receiving recommendations from the whole of the United Kingdom.
If you are in the position that you think that this may apply to a loved one then we are able to advise and assist you. We would also be pleased to act as a Professional Receiver and assist in easing the burden during difficult times.
