After all …….prevention is better than cure.

With more people in Wales living longer and in better health it is vitally important that we plan ahead to ensure that all our needs are catered for. There are approximately 27,000 people in residential and nursing care in Wales and 41,000 people are receiving day care or care services at home. However, the charging criteria for such care are much more controversial.

It is increasingly important that you receive appropriate and correct advice on how to plan for the time when you may need to enter into long term care. With the average cost of care being anything between £400.00 and £1,500.00 per week, and is sometimes considered by some to be more important than Inheritance tax planning following recent changes in the Nil Rate Bands Rules for married couples.

It may be that you have been paying care fees since the 1st April 1996 and are entitled to a reimbursement. If you feel that you or a loved one is paying nursing home fees unnecessarily then please come to us for some advice. There are many people across the UK who are receiving nursing care due to severe physical or mental illness, and are paying nursing home fees which should be funded by the NHS and do not know this.
