Malcolm Thomas MBE

Malcolm Thomas of Llangynog, Carmarthen, joined JCP Solicitors in June 2011 from his role as Community Transport Association's Director for Wales.

Malcolm has previously held positions as Director of Business Services, Membership and Regions for the NFU in England and Wales; the National Farmers’ Union Cymru's Head of Policy and Resources/Deputy Director; and Head of Agriculture and European Commodity Policy Division in the Welsh Office.

Malcolm is also a Life Member of the Young Farmers' Club movement, and has also represented the NFU at numerous House of Commons and Lords Select Committees.

Malcolm’s role, which is predominantly management and development of the rural client base, includes liaison with the NFU and its legal assistance scheme, for which JCP is the panel firm for South Wales.

Having worked in the sector for many years, Malcolm has first-hand knowledge of the challenges it can face.

Malcolm is also the RABI (Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution) Trustee for Wales.

 Malcolm was recently awarded an MBE in recognition of his services to the agricultural industry in Wales.

Where did you grow up?
On a dairy farm in carmarthen West Wales.

What was your first ever job?
Working with Peri Gold maintaining fruit machines.

Who would be your ideal dinner guests?
Bill Clinton, Richie McCaw, Rod Stewart and Fiona Bruce, that should cover just about every topic.

What would be your ideal holiday destination?
Sun, Sun, Sun, Sun.... somewhere like Porthcawl!

What would you rather be doing now?
Touring around New Zealand and Australia in a clapped out camper van.
