Law firms’ agricultural expert recognised in New Year Honours
A member of our firm has been awarded an MBE in recognition of his services to the agricultural industry in Wales. Malcolm Thomas, former NFU Cymru Director and now Rural Client Manager at JCP Solicitors, was included in the Queen’s New Years Honours list and will shortly be invited to receive his accolade at Buckingham Palace.
Mr Thomas from Carmarthen was awarded the accolade in recognition of the role he has played within the agricultural industry in Wales, helping to safeguard the industry through some of its most difficult periods including the 2001 foot and mouth outbreak.
Mr Thomas, who works within the Swansea, Whitland and Fishguard based JCP Solicitors’ Rural Practice team said: “It is a tremendous honour to be named in the New Years Honours list and it was a great surprise when I received the news.
“Receiving the MBE will recognise the part that I have played with others within the agricultural industry in Wales, who have together worked tirelessly to help the industry stand the test of time and to a position where it can now prosper.”
Rory Hutchings, head of the Rural Practice team at JCP Solicitors said: “The team at JCP Solicitors are delighted for Malcolm. He has worked tirelessly throughout his career to highlight the issues affecting those involved in the agricultural industry, and to support the industry in Wales and receiving this recognition is a fitting tribute.
“Malcolm is an extremely well regarded individual and we are delighted to have him on board as our Rural Client Manager.”
