LOCAL BUSINESSES HELP PUT A SMILE ON THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN’S FACES THIS CHRISTMAS

Over 3,500 underprivileged children across South Wales will receive at least one present this Christmas thanks to local businesses.

Working in conjunction with NCH Cymru for the seventh year running, Business in the Community’s (BITC) Pocketful of Presents campaign encourages employees to buy presents to help brighten up Christmas for children in the region.

This year’s campaign has received support from 38 companies across South Wales, including Swansea-based John Collins & Partners Solicitors, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, Zurich Financial Insurance, Logica CMG, and South Wales Police.

The presents collected by their staff will be donated to 12 charities in South Wales including NCH Cymru, Christian Lewis Trust, Caerphilly Move On and Cardiff Women’s Aid.

Matthew Owen, Solicitor at John Collins & Partners, who have collected 45 presents for NCH Cymru and Christian Lewis Trust said: "We are delighted that our staff have supported this campaign so generously and hope that their contributions can make a difference to the lives of local children.

"As a business, it is always great to put something back into the local community. The strong partnership we have with BITC is valuable and rewarding for both us and the people who benefit from the BITC initiatives, and we hope to develop and build upon this in the future." 

Jill Salter, Business Development Manager at Business in the Community Wales added: "Yet again, we have had a tremendous response from the South Wales business community this year.  These gifts will, I am sure, go a long way to brightening up Christmas Day for thousands of children in South Wales".

For NCH Cymru, the children's charity, Anthony Hobbs said: "This is the seventh year that the disadvantaged, vulnerable and disabled children we work with at NCH Cymru have benefited from the generosity of the Pocketful of Presents Christmas campaign. The thousands of toys and games donated will add to the magic of Christmas for children across Wales."
